Glass

With years of experience in glassblowing, Boogie has honed his craft through dedication, experimentation, and a deep understanding of the medium. His process begins with raw materials —molten glass heated to over 2,000 degrees. He then carefully shapes the piece through precise movements of his tools and attention to reheat cycles. Each piece undergoes multiple stages of heating, forming, and cooling, ensuring both structural integrity and artistic refinement. Beyond his practice, Boogie shares his expertise as an instructor at Punahou, where he guides the next generation of glass artists.

“You gotta love glass. There’s just no medium like it. I was lucky to first learn glassblowing at Punahou when I was a high school student. I was completely enthralled after my first gathering, and I never looked back. I continued to blow at UCLA, but had to let go of it for about 30 years. When my kids went off to college, I said to myself, ‘I have to get back into glass.’ That was the moment of my renaissance with the medium.”
